Words from the Mama...

He Smiles!!! I know some of you were probably beginning to wonder if Coen was the most serious baby ever. Actually, he smiles all the time, I just can't seem to catch him with the camera. The very moment he sees the camera he turns sooooooo serious (see picture below) and just stares at it with real interest.

The smiling picture above was the first smiling picture we have been able to capture on camera! Kayla would say Coen was smiling because that was also the first time he wore his new Flames pj's and he was just so excited to have them on and be supporting the best hockey team out there (Kayla is a die hard Flames fan). Jayd on the other hand would say that he was laughing because he thought he looked pretty funny supporting a team that is currently staring down the barrel of an extended summer starting this week. Being a true Canadian, I will have to side with Kayla on this one.

So, I'm a first time blogger and I must admit that I am feeling a little pressure following in Jayd's footsteps. To all you Jayd fans out there (yes, he is very funny when he writes), I promise he will be back from time to time. For now, you are stuck with a much sappier Mama.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE being a mom!! The truth is I love kids. I always have. But, never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagined that I could really love someone so much. Don't get me wrong, I love Jayd, but the love I feel for Coen is something entirely different. Coen has literally changed my life!

I love living in Texas but now that I have Coen, it is even more difficult being away from family. I want you all to know him! He is such a sweet baby. He only cries if there is really something wrong (pain/hungry), otherwise he is so chill and content. He loves to smile and chat and loves people talking to him. Sometimes he just looks right at me and starts cooing away, like he is telling me all about his day. I love that! Coen can be a little shy and when you smile at him he will lower his chin and give you a little smile out of the corner of his mouth. It is so sweet. He's also a thinker. As you can see in some of his photos, he really likes to looks and study things out. He is so alert and aware of what is going on around him. We have what I call 'school time' everyday and we read books and look at some baby flashcards. He will study out each picture and loves hearing me explain to him what they are. I honestly think this is his favorite time of the day.

Coen is also a great cuddler. I love that about him because I LOVE to cuddle him. For the first month of his life, I told my mom that he probably didn't even spend more than 1 hour of daytime not in my arms (yeah, it made it tough to get anything done). Even now, sometimes when he naps, I will just cuddle him for hours, rocking him back and forth. This is my favorite time of the day.

Jayd tells me that Coen is a Mama's boy for sure. When he cries, sometimes all it takes is me giving him a quick cuddle. Jayd is such a great father and when Coen is upset, Jayd will do everything he can to get him to stop crying. If all that fails, he hands him to me and sometimes within seconds Coen is calm. I have never experienced that before. I have always been the "Aunty" and never the "Mommy". I love it!!!

I wish that I were this amazing writer so I could somehow capture in words the feelings I have for my Baby Coen. So I could truly express how much I love him. I would love to be able to write every little detail of Coen so each of you could really know him but unfortunately I am not that talented. I guess you will just have to come and visit us!!! Our door is always open!

Note: Check out some new pictures of Coen. Be sure once you click on the album you want to view that you click SLIDESHOW to make viewing easier!!
